Visitor Welcome
.
SummaryWelcome to Writing Wiki. We hope you find this to be an easy to use, flexible space to collaborate. If you have any questions, please email moxley at taa dot usf dot edu. (My apologies for that funky email. I had the email on a lot of pages for a while and was getting spammed way too much so now I make it harder for the spam bots to pick up my email.)

See also OneMinuteWiki.

All Wiki content is work-in-progress. This is a collaborative forum where people can share ideas and record any consensus reached on difficult issues, along with rebuttal. It changes as people come and go, as experience develops, and as opinions change. If you are looking for authoritative or stable information, you may need to look elsewhere.

The general tone here is casual and respectful. Unlike chat rooms, newsgroups, or private e-mail, Wiki content is expected to have some seriousness and permanence. Authors are encouraged to write thoughtfully and to think about how their writings fit in with the rest of the existing wiki content. That doesn't mean we don't allow fun and frivolity here, it just means that we try not to waste one another's time by writing without thinking.

Please do any testing or experimentation on the PlayPage. Creating new pages that do not have important content is annoying and impolite. It is also impolite to change existing pages if you do not improve them in some way (adding questions qualifies as improvement). On the other hand, it's best when you do change existing pages and improve them in some way.

When you do start making changes to this wiki (and you should do so soon!), please make yourself known:

  1. Create your own WikiHomePage
  2. Use WikiSignature when appropriate

Here are a few thing you can do to get a feel for Wiki:

How to Create an Independent Wiki

WritingWiki uses powerful open source software: Flexwiki. Flexwiki enables users to create independent wikis. For example, if you wanted to create an online ezine on the environment, you could create an independent wiki here. If you named your wiki "Green Thumb," then the address for your wiki homepage would be

 http://writingwiki.org/greenthumb.aspx.

In other words, your new wiki will appear at http://writingwiki.org/thenameyougiveyour wiki.

If you wish to utilize this feature, please email moxley@taa.usf.edu (after fixing the email address, of course)
